Before joining AEW, Omega established himself as one of the world's top wrestlers during his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) from 2010 to 2019. Widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of his generation, Omega has been praised by fans and critics for his athleticism, storytelling, innovation, and elite big-match performances, earning him the nickname "The Best Bout Machine." His work has earned widespread critical acclaim, including multiple Wrestler of the Year, Match of the Year, Feud of the Year, and MVP awards from Pro Wrestling Illustrated, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, and Tokyo Sports, while twice being ranked the No. 1 wrestler in the PWI 500. He is also known for blending his passion for video games into his persona through entrances, gear, references, and performances inspired by gaming culture.
