Born in Ma'ale Adumim, Israel, to parents who immigrated from Iraq and Algeria, Raz set to pursue acting at the Yoram Loewenstein Performing Arts Studio. Before his global breakout, he built a solid foundation in Israeli television and film, appearing in series like Naor's Friends and Prime Minister's Children, as well as feature films such as The Kindergarten Teacher and Footnote.
