Biography

Durden Godfrey is a Jacksonville-based filmmaker known for bold, provocative storytelling that merges urban grit with psychological depth. As a self-taught writer, director, cinematographer, and editor, he specializes in crafting powerful low-budget features that maximize atmosphere, tension, and emotional impact. Drawing inspiration from auteurs like Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino, his work leans into horror, erotic thrillers, and grounded dramas-often exploring themes of guilt, power, voyeurism, and identity. His films-including Far From the Tree (now streaming on Tubi) and the upcoming The Devil Came to Duval-demonstrate a fierce DIY spirit and a cinematic voice that refuses to flinch. With over a decade of experience in independent film, he's adept at turning limited resources into unforgettable visuals and stories. Whether shooting on a Blackmagic Pocket 4K or building entire narratives in a single location, he brings discipline, wit, and intensity to every frame. He continues to push boundaries while keeping his roots grounded in raw, honest storytelling. - IMDb mini biography by: AI
