He won the BDO World Darts Championship in 1996 and is a former World No. 1. Beaton is currently introduced in the PDC as "The Bronzed Adonis", a nickname derived from his tanned appearance. He has taken part in a number of marathons in order to keep fit and raise money for charity, and has been referred to as The Marathon Man as a result.
