Biography

Boy George (born George Alan O'Dowd) is an iconic English singer, songwriter, and DJ who rose to global superstardom in the 1980s as the charismatic and flamboyant front-man of the pop-soul band Culture Club. Recognized for his soulful baritone voice and his pioneering, gender-bending androgynous fashion style, he helped define the New Romantic movement and spearheaded the Second British Invasion of the US charts with massive international hits like "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Karma Chameleon." Beyond his incredible musical success with Culture Club—which earned him a Grammy Award and cemented his status as a pop culture legend—he has enjoyed a resilient solo career, authored best-selling memoirs, composed music for the stage (including the Broadway musical Taboo), and established a prominent presence as a DJ and television personality, notably serving as a coach on The Voice UK and The Voice Australia & touring throughout the world.
